'Alo, Civis Romanus!

Anyways, my choir director just got back from Ephesus (she got the most AMAZING photos- your country is soooo beautiful! But I digress). Her husband said something about some guy in a place around there wanting to trade their daughter for camels. I thought, "What the heck?! I acn't believe that story!"

I wanted to know you opinion about that. Could some really have said that? If someone did say that, could he have been serious? I just couldn't believe that someone would actually say that. >.>

First.. Around Ephesus there are no camels.. they don't worth much. And plus Ephesus is around Smyrna (İzmir) where is the most educated people of all Turkey live. So its a small chance that anyone would sell their daughter for a camel. Most possible thing that could be is some guy brought a camel, and for money he lets children ride it. Touristic thing.

The real part. There are such things, at least could be even if its not that common. In far east, the worth of a girl lowers, as the shadow of the past decades still linger there. But still my girl for you camel is probably not possible. I know families use their children for begging, even sell them to people for their desires. But not for camels. But they do such horrible things... Its not uncommon in low educated places, its unthinkable here in Istanbul or Smyrna or Ephesus... West of Turkey is as modernised as Europe in many ways. East however, still lacks the education and the modern human cultural way of living.

I think your director should have misunderstood the subject there, does she understand Turkish? Or just say it from what she gets from what she sees? Or her husband does this? Its %99 impossible, %1 is always there though. So no... I don't believe it... Even these things happen it happens with a few people (except the use children for begging) as much as we know... but how much we city people know about those places... But no.. no camel-girl trade exist these days... Because Camels don't worth that much...

Hm, I see. Well, that's part of it. It wasn't actually IN Ephesus; it was in some more rural area that was around there. The daughter works for Mercy Corps, if that helps... So not an particularly affluent area, either.

You know, I'll get back to you on this. XD I can't remember enough of the story.

(now, the fun part will be explaining to my director why I suddenly have such a great interest in this story, for I can't explain that I'm in correspondence with someone from Turkey, or she's bound to ask how XD The secret of my dA account must not be revealed *snickers*)

Hmm ok keep it secret... But there are lot of ways for it.. 4chan.. facebook.. (don't use any of them though:P) so you might not have to reveal the hidden secret my dear critter 36.

Still I don't think it has much possibility...

Neither, to tell the truth. XD But I'll get more info, and analyze that later... Except the next choir practice is Halloween, and I've got a costume party to go to directly after it, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if I forgot.

4Chan?! I would slaughter your if you used it. >.> Scum of the earth. Foulest place there is online, South of Hell, even.

Aye, the facebook. XD You'd have to find me first. There are a lot of Lee's, and Lee isn't even my full first name. XD
