I like this version better - the flames look more realistic. The ones on the ground look especially good - I'm tempted to accuse you of photo-manipulating. The background is also amazing! I love the volcano - the lava looks perfect. Nice work on getting it to glow through the cracked solidified lava. The clouds look good too.

It looks like you had some issues on the dude, though. He looks good overall, but there's definitely some stuff that's off. The lighting looks wrong - it seems to be coming from above, but the fire - the light source - is below. It's a disgruntling effect. The left arm looks too short, like you tried foreshortening it when that wasn't really appropriate. The neck anatomy looks wrong, and his hair moves much too uniformly. It looks more like a helmet than individual strands of hair.

I'd still say this is a lot better than you made it out to be in that note, though
